Inmate found dead in Richmond jail identified By Roman Gokhman Contra Costa Times Article Launched: 10/30/2008 08:56:34 PM PDT

RICHMOND - A female inmate at the West County Detention Facility found dead in her cell Thursday has been identified as a 55-year-old Pacheco resident, the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office said.

Cynthia Brown was found unresponsive about 5 p.m. and medical crews began CPR immediately, said Contra Costa sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee. She was eventually pronounced dead at the facility.

Lee said as is customary with in-custody deaths, the sheriff's office and District Attorney's Office will investigate the incident.
