TX - Gatesville state prison guard faces civil rights charge Gatesville state prison guard faces civil rights charge From staff reports Thursday, May 21, 2009 A 44-year-old former Gatesville state prison guard was being held Wednesday night in the Coryell County Jail, charged with violating the civil rights of an inmate. Eddie James Davis was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to the county’s Web site. Davis was arrested Tuesday afternoon by the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office in the case being investigated by the Office of the Inspector General, which acts as an internal affairs division for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Michelle Lyons, a TDCJ spokeswoman, said that from September 2007 to September 2008, Davis was a correctional officer at the Crain Unit. Crain is an all-female unit with a capacity of 1,500 inmates, Lyons said.
